External integration - PrusaLink (Prusa printers)

Hi everyone!

After OctoPrint, Moonraker, and Bambu Lab, the Prusa printers were missing from the 3D printing pack. The MK4, Core One, XL, and MINI+ have a local API, PrusaLink: here is PrusaLink for Gladys, locally, without a Prusa Connect account.

What it does

  • One device per printer (up to 3): status, file, progress, elapsed and remaining time, nozzle and bed temperatures and setpoints (read-only), speed, filament type, Pause and Resume buttons, and the camera image for PrusaLink on Raspberry Pi.
  • A widget « 3D Printer »: progress, remaining time, temperatures, camera or object thumbnail, and Pause, Resume, and Cancel (with confirmation) buttons.
  • Triggers: print started, finished, failed, or canceled, on pause, user intervention required (end of filament, screen prompt), error.
  • Actions: pause, resume, or cancel a print, read the status. No heating commands, like for OctoPrint.

The cool thing

Print finished → « benchy finished in 2 h 05 » on the phone
Filament out → « The printer needs you »
Smoke detected → cancel the print, then cut the power

Installation

Gladys 5.1 minimum. Prusa MK4/MK4S, MK3.9, MK3.5, Core One, XL, and MINI+ (firmware 5 or higher), and MK3S+ with PrusaLink on Raspberry Pi.

It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - guim31/gladys-prusalink: Prusa 3D printers over PrusaLink (local API) in Gladys Assistant · GitHub

  1. Enter the printer’s IP address and the password displayed in Settings → Network → PrusaLink.
  2. Add the printer from the Discovery tab.

Honest small reservations: it was developed without a printer, against a simulator built from the Prusa firmware code and responses published by open-source projects. Reading happens every 10 seconds during a print (30 seconds otherwise), so a very brief event may go unnoticed, and there is no file sending or print start.

Coded with the help of Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Prusa Research.
