Birthday integration

Well, I’m currently testing the Birthday integration, which I find quite nice!

However, from a user’s perspective, I think it lacks a bit of documentation. Some explanations about how it works and the different options available would be welcome to facilitate its use.

Moreover, as can be seen in the screenshots, there are still quite a few elements to translate into French.

The placement of certain words could also be improved to make the interface more natural and pleasant to read.

Finally, some terms would deserve to be reviewed. For example, the expression “original date” doesn’t seem very clear to a user. A more explicit title would help better understand what this field corresponds to.

These are small details, but I think they could really improve the user experience and make this integration even more pleasant to use!

@Prof_Techno version 0.2.0 is available and fixes what you reported.

What has been fixed

  • English features: as long as no widget had been displayed, the integration did not know your language and named the features in English. It now deduces it from Gladys’ time zone. However, Gladys never renames the features of an already created device: for David, delete the device (Devices tab) then add it again from the Discovery tab. The date is not lost, it remains in the configuration.
  • « Aura » becomes « Next Age ».
  • « Original Date » becomes « Birth Date », « Wedding Date », or « Event Date » depending on the type.
  • The technical parameter « KIND » is translated.
  • Documentation: the configuration page now explains the operation in 4 steps, with a link to the complete documentation.

New Features

  • :birthday_cake: Wedding anniversaries (cotton, porcelain, gold…), in widgets and scenes with the variable {{triggerEvent.data.wedding}}.
  • :ten: « Round Years Only » filter on triggers (10, 20, 25, 30… and 18 years for a birthday).
  • :date: New trigger « A date reaches a thousand days » (every 1,000 days, for example the 10,000 days of life).
  • :spiral_calendar: New widget « Dates of the Month » (this month or the next).
  • :plus: « Add a Date » button directly from the dashboard widgets.

:warning: This version requires Gladys 5.2.0 or newer.
