External integration - Glances (server monitoring)

Hi everyone!

The NAS silently filling up, the Nextcloud container down for three days without anyone noticing… Here’s Glances in Gladys: monitoring your machines (NAS, home server, PC), with alerts in your scenes. It’s the complement to @prohand’s « Host Supervision », which only reads Gladys’ machine. Everything is local.

What it does

  • One device per Glances server (up to 3): online status, processor, memory, swap, load, uptime, running containers, highest temperature.
  • Choose in the Discovery tab: your disks (used and free space), network interfaces, temperature sensors, and containers. Nothing is created by default.
  • A « Glances Server » widget: gauges, temperature, running and stopped containers.
  • Four triggers: disk almost full (thresholds from 80 to 98 %), high temperature, container stopped, server unreachable.
  • An action « Server Status », with a summary ready to send.

The cool part

NAS disk at 90 % → « Disk /volume1 is at 92 % » on Telegram
Every morning at 8 a.m. → server status summary
Nextcloud container stops → message, or the desk lamp turns red

Installation

Gladys 5.1 minimum. Glances 3 or 4.

It will be in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - guim31/gladys-glances: Glances server monitoring for Gladys Assistant: CPU, memory, disks, sensors and containers · GitHub

  1. Run glances -w on the machine to monitor (or the Docker image nicolargo/glances with GLANCES_OPT="-w").
  2. In Gladys: the address (and password if there is one), then « Test Connection ».
  3. Discovery tab: add what you want to monitor.

Honest small reservations: it’s read-only, and by default Glances only lists running containers (all=True in glances.conf to see them all). It has been tested against real Glances 4.5 and 3.4 in containers (full disk, stopped container, server cut, real temperature sensors), but not yet on a real NAS.

Coded with the help of Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Glances.
