Hi everyone!
Many internet and DAB+ radios (Roberts, Hama, Medion, Revo, Lenco, Auna…) hide the same module: Frontier Silicon, the one controlled by the UNDOK app. Here they are in Gladys, locally, without an account or cloud.
What it does
- Automatic discovery of radios in your network. You can also enter their address.
- One device per radio:
- power, volume, mute;
- source: DAB, FM, internet radio, Spotify, Bluetooth, AUX, as the radio lists them;
- play, pause, next, previous;
- current playback.
- A scene trigger « Playback has changed »: the radio started playing, changed station or source, or the title changed.
- Three scene actions:
- Play a preset, by number or name (« France Inter »). The radio is turned on if needed.
- Change source.
- Current playback: station, title, artist, volume…
- A widget « Internet Radio »: current playback, volume, power, and your presets as buttons.
The cool thing
- The alarm: at 7 a.m., the kitchen radio turns on to your favorite station.
- When leaving the house, a scene turns off all the radios.
- The UNDOK app continues to work alongside: the integration does not open any session, which would log it out.
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum. It will arrive in the store at the next indexer update. In a hurry? Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - LM1LC3N7/gladys-frontier-silicon: Gladys Assistant external integration for Frontier Silicon internet radios (Roberts, Hama, Medion, Revo, Lenco…): power, volume, source, presets and now playing, on the local network. Unofficial, not affiliated with Frontier Smart Technologies. · GitHub
- Install the integration and open Discovery: your radios appear. Otherwise, enter their IP address in the configuration.
- If you have changed the radio’s PIN code (1234 by default), enter it.
- Place the Internet Radio widget on a dashboard.
Honest small reservations
- Testers wanted! I don’t have a Frontier Silicon radio. The test responses are from a real radio, taken from recordings in the library used by Home Assistant. But each model has its quirks: tell me what works on yours.
- Radios are read every 30 seconds, due to lack of instant notification without a session. A change made on the radio therefore takes up to 30 seconds to appear.
- Reading presets puts the radio in « navigation » mode, as UNDOK does. They are therefore only read on demand.
- Some models leave the network in standby: they appear offline, without error.
