Hi everyone!
We’re adding the Sony Bravia TVs to the store family (Samsung, LG, Android TV, Roku, Apple TV…), accounting for 3% of Home Assistant installations. Everything works locally, via Sony’s IP control API, without any cloud or account.
What it does
- One device per TV (up to 3): power on/off (with Wake-on-LAN if the TV is deeply asleep), volume in slider and + / −, mute, channel, list of inputs (with the names given on the TV), list of apps, and what’s on screen.
- Three widgets: a remote control (power, volume, mute), four customizable buttons, and four shortcuts to your favorite inputs or apps (the TV turns on if needed).
- A trigger for « input, channel, or app changed », filterable by TV, by name, and whether the change comes from Gladys or the remote control.
- Scene actions: open an app, select an input, send a remote control key.
The cool part
The « PS5 » input appears → gaming ambiance in the living room
Friday 9 PM → Netflix on the TV and dimmed lights
No one at home → all TVs turn off
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
It will be available in the store at the next indexer update. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - guim31/gladys-sony-bravia: Sony Bravia TVs for Gladys Assistant: power, inputs, volume and apps, on the local network · GitHub
- On the TV: enable IP control with a pre-shared key (Settings → Network), and remote startup.
- In Gladys: the TV address and the key, then « Test the connection », and the Discovery tab.
Honest caveats: Sony’s API doesn’t say which app is open (only inputs and channels), Wake-on-LAN doesn’t go through a router, and I developed it without the hardware: testing is based on Sony’s documentation, Home Assistant’s test data, and a fake TV in a container. If you have a Bravia, your feedback would be very helpful.
