Hi everyone!
The Orange TV decoder is in a lot of living rooms, and it has a small local API that the community has been using for years. So here is Orange TV for Gladys: turn on, turn off, change channels, and send keys to the decoder, locally, without an account or cloud.
What it does
- One device per decoder (up to 3): power/standby, channel number (customizable: Gladys types the number), channel name or “Home Page”, channel +/- buttons, volume +/-, mute, play/pause.
- Two widgets: “Remote Control” and “Favorite Channels” (4 channels of your choice, the current one is checked).
- Triggers: decoder turned on, decoder turned off, channel changed (with the number, the name, and the previous channel).
- Actions: turn on or off (never accidentally reverse the state), set a channel (the decoder turns on first if needed), press a key.
The cool thing
7 a.m. on weekdays → franceinfo on the living room TV
TV on in the evening → dimmed lights
TV off for 5 minutes → turn off the power strip
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum. UHD 86, TV 4, TV 5, and TV 6 decoders (the TV Key does not have this API).
It will be available in the store at the next indexer update. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - guim31/gladys-orange-tv: Orange TV set-top box (power, channel, remote keys) over the local network in Gladys Assistant · GitHub
- Reserve the IP address of the decoder in the Livebox and enter it in the configuration.
- Test the decoders, then add the device from the Discovery tab.
Honest caveat: it was developed without the hardware, based on the responses published by open-source projects, against a simulated decoder in Gladys’s sandbox conditions. Real delays (wake-up, number entry) remain to be confirmed. A decoder in deep sleep only turns back on with its remote, and there is no program guide (the decoder does not provide it locally). It complements the Livebox integration, which handles the box.
