Hi everyone!
Even though Squeezeboxes haven’t been sold for a long time, Lyrion Music Server (formerly Logitech Media Server) is still alive and well, and many people use it for multiroom setups with piCorePlayer or squeezelite on Raspberry Pis. Here’s Lyrion Music Server for Gladys, locally.
What it does
- One device per player (Squeezebox Touch, Radio, Boom, Duet, piCorePlayer, squeezelite…): works, playback status, play/pause/stop/previous/next, volume, mute, title, and artist. It is controlled from Gladys’s Music box, and the « Speak on a speaker » action can target its players.
- A widget « Lyrion Players »: all players with what they’re playing and a « Pause all » button, or a single player with its cover and buttons.
- Triggers: playback started, playback stopped (with the reason), track changed (including when a radio announces a new title).
- Actions: play a Lyrion favorite, set the volume, pause everything, broadcast an announcement then resume the music where it was, group or ungroup players.
The cool thing
7:30 AM on weekdays → FIP in the kitchen, volume 25
Someone rings the doorbell → chime on the entry player, then the music resumes
Last person leaves → everything paused
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
It will be available in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - guim31/gladys-lyrion: Lyrion Music Server (Squeezebox, piCorePlayer, squeezelite) players in Gladys Assistant · GitHub
- Enter the Lyrion server address (and username/password if protection is enabled).
- Add players from the Discovery tab.
Honest caveats: one server per installation, the address must be entered (Lyrion only discovers via broadcast, which Gladys’s sandbox doesn’t allow), and an announcement on a grouped player plays on the entire group. It has been tested against a real Lyrion 9.1 server and two squeezelite players in containers (playback, volume, favorites, groups, announcement, and resume) under Gladys’s sandbox conditions, but not on a physical Squeezebox nor in a real instance.
