Make Gladys talk on a tablet

Hi everyone!

I’m following up on this tweet: https://twitter.com/gladysassistant/status/1789947327102206327

I had fun making a small proof of concept to allow Gladys to speak on any screen as long as the Gladys dashboard is running, for example on a Gladys tablet open in the living room

What do you think? Is this a feature you would use?

Personally, it’s the iPad that serves as the audio player (Plexamp, radio stations) on the home’s amplifier and as a Gladys display so… YES!

Good idea if there’s the option to choose which screens the sound is played on! On Sunday morning in the bedroom that could earn you a serious telling-off from your wife!!

Feel free to vote for the request if you like it, I’ll see if I put more time into it!

I like it myself anyway, and it seems to be working well on Twitter :stuck_out_tongue:

no more voting!
but totally for…

You can free up votes if you feel this feature is more important (« Demandes de fonctionnalités » => « My votes »).

The number of votes is intentionally limited per user, otherwise everyone would vote for everything and we’d be back to square one :joy:

The problem is that I voted for features that I’ve requested for quite some time and that seem to have been forgotten, and which I don’t want to give up on!

Will this go through Gladys Plus? (via the TTS already in place)

Yes, the TTS part is the same as the one currently in production for speaking on a Sonos, Google or Apple speaker.

I should clarify that this goes through Gladys Plus because for now I haven’t found a quality TTS system that works locally, but if one day that exists, I would be very happy to offer it locally, for even faster response times and a purely local operation!
