Audio management: provide a way to output sound regardless of available hardware

Hello

Would it be possible to allow, in a scene or elsewhere in Gladys, outputting sound regardless of the available audio hardware?

I imagine actions in scenes (« say a message » (TTS), « play music », etc …) including a choice of named « audio output(s) » (« kitchen speaker », « living room HIFI », « doorbell speaker ») that could be selected individually or in groups (selected by « checkboxes »).

Use cases would then be limited only by imagination and interaction with the home’s occupants would be much more fun  (this is already the case for me and Gladys is a charming lady who informs me of lots of things happening in my home …).

What do you think?
Jean

Hi @jean_bruder,

I’m reposting my message here:

It’s not possible, there is no standard.

Each integration must be developed on a case-by-case basis.

I’m going to close this request — if you ever want a PulseAudio integration, for example, you need a specific request for PulseAudio, same for Alexa, Google Home, etc… Everything has to be coded by hand, there’s no magic wand.
