I had the same issue when I initially connected via Gladys Plus after the switch to v5. Actually, it was because the Gladys Plus frontend was already on v5 while my local Gladys was still on v4. I connected locally to Gladys, forced the update, and then no more issues.

I had the same thing on the first startup, but by clearing the cache and refreshing the page, everything came back and it works perfectly

I discovered version 5 and I’m amazed! I entered the world of Gladys in early June 2026 with the starter kit, and in just 3 months I’m already witnessing a truly beautiful overhaul: the modern and pleasant design makes you want to use it, all the improvements I wished for to make it simpler and easier to use are now here. Plus, all these new integrations allow you to go even further in terms of possibilities. It’s incredible, and I really congratulate @pierre-gilles and the other contributors (and the expensive Claude too) for responding so quickly to our expectations: what a job and leap made in this August 2026, thank you so much!

The problem is that now that GA is moving at high speed, we’re going to become more and more demanding

Users since v3, so many beautiful evolutions have taken place and I don’t regret my choice of Gladys

I even recently published my first external integration haha

The new interface is great, but I have a few small suggestions/improvements, especially on mobile.

The first, the most annoying, is that the dashboard menu does not display in a readable way on mobile.

When in portrait format and with numerical settings with a comma, you can’t see the full values which are partially hidden by the + and - buttons.

And this one which is much more a personal opinion than a functional problem

The color features appeared before as a colored rectangle, but now it’s just the color of the light icon that changes.
I find it less visible than before.

In cases where we use the color features on custom modules that don’t have lighting but the color serves as a status indicator, then it’s no longer possible to see the color without clicking on the switch arrow.

I saw that I could change my on/off switches to on/off lights to fix the color display issue.
But I think it would be nice to be able to choose whether you want to display the color alone or associated with a button/light.

I notably used the colored rectangles as a visual signal to tell me if something is okay or not, now it’s less obvious.

But there you go, after all it’s just me and my tinkering that deviate from the basic use.

Thanks for the feedback, I sent an email to all Gladys Plus users to remind them to update their local instance!

For future versions, I’ll think of a mechanism to make it clearer in the interface that the two (Gladys Plus and the local instance) are not at the same version

For my part, I’m not a fan of the new dashboard.
What bothers me the most are all the truncated sentences.

You have to switch to a single-column section, copy the device reference, go down to the new location, create a new device, paste the reference, then go back up and delete the first one.

In short, it’s extremely time-consuming.

I haven’t done any testing, but from my discussions with Claude and my research, the cleanest and most stable implementation would be Bluetooth pairing directly from Gladys, whereas Bluetooth on mobile seems very complicated.

The main reason: on mobile, you don’t control the stack. On Android, Thread credentials are stored in Google Play Services and not in the app, Google’s Matter UI takes over during pairing, and you need the Location permission set to « Always Allow » or it fails silently. On iOS, you have to go through Apple’s framework. This means a different experience on each phone, and a dependency on Google and Apple that I prefer to avoid. On the server side, on the other hand, the Bluetooth stack is always the same, it’s already present in Gladys, and I can test and debug it.

Home Assistant made exactly this move in 2026.6 and now allows pairing Matter without a phone, via their own Bluetooth stack. And their new implementation is in JavaScript (matterjs-server, based on matter.js, like Gladys).

For the QR code, you don’t need a native app either: a browser can scan a QR code.

I confirm that it’s better to use the device’s BLE rather than the phone’s.

I’m on GrapheneOS and I can’t pair Matter via my smartphone (same on /e/OS and IodeOS or any other custom ROMs).

As you said, HA has backtracked by allowing pairing via its HA Proxy BLE network.

Hi, and yes via smartphone it’s Google Services that manages the encrypted connection with the devices as far as I understand. So, by going through MicroG it doesn’t work but same with GrapheneOS which actually uses Google Services but since it’s not full access it doesn’t work.
