Integration of an Aqara M100 Thread hub

I’ve just received an Aqara M100.

I currently have a Sonos P dongle for Zigbee.

How should I proceed so as not to break everything?

Do I « replace » the Sonos, delete the Zigbee container and do a new configuration with the Aqara, or can I use the Aqara M100 only for Thread/Matter?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I wouldn’t touch the Zigbee network if it’s working.
I don’t know how Aqara works but if there’s only one chip you’ll do either Thread or Zigbee but not both.
I’d dedicate that dongle to the Thread network.

I agree with @Will_71, don’t touch the Zigbee that’s working

However, I’m very curious to know what this Thread gateway does, I had posted the link here because I found it on Amazon, but I’ve never seen anyone use this device, so very curious to know what it does ^^

If you have any experience with it, @jcmoriaud!

The Aqara M100 is seen by Gladys :

Now I’m trying to pair IKEA Matter Bilresa remotes and it crashes every time via the Aqara app.

I’m also trying to add them via Gladys, which doesn’t find them, but I don’t know if that’s the right way to do it…

Excellent!

Have you tried multiple times?

The problem doesn’t necessarily come from the Aqara M100, I have in mind this post that was quite critical of the IKEA Bilresa, the conclusion of the post is literally:

Many (maybe ~half) of the BILRESA remotes are simply broken/defective upon arrival. Therefore, no troubleshooting may be able to fix failed pairings. In other words, there’s nothing wrong with your setup. Better to buy other new remotes and try those.

Read on Reddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tradfri/comments/1qox2t5/psa_for_anyone_struggling_with_bilresa/

I encourage you to read the post; there are tips on everything you need to check to make it work. In their case, it’s with an IKEA Dirigera gateway, but in my opinion the problem is the same with other Thread routers.

Have you tried several times?

The issue doesn’t necessarily come from the Aqara M100; I have in mind a post that was quite critical of the IKEA Bilresa, the conclusion of the post is literally:

Yes I tried several times to add the four Bilresa remotes via the Aqara app, it always times out with « network access failed » — see my screenshot.

However, I was able to add via the Aqara app an Alpstuga air quality sensor (which I’m going to return, because I don’t find it very practical), and a Klippbox water leak sensor.

So there is clearly a problem with the Bilresa remotes, I’ll follow the indicated post, thanks.

As for the two Kajplats bulbs, they simply don’t have the Matter sticker on the box, so I don’t know how to add them!!!

Now, I would like the devices to be seen by Gladys. So I’m trying to add them via the Matter integration, but nothing shows up…

I looked for logs but I only found this:

How are you trying to add them to Gladys?

You must not use the code on the bulb, but a « share code » that Aqara usually gives you

Hello,

So I stupidly read the prompt here :

In my Aqara app there is only this for, e.g., my water leak detector :

I don’t know where to find this « sharing code ».

Thanks!

That’s right, the text in the Aqara app says « Or copy this pairing code to add the device to other Matter platforms »

So it doesn’t work then?

Is the device online and controllable from the Aqara side?

That’s right, the text in the Aqara app says « Or copy this pairing code to add the device to other Matter platforms »

Ok I understand, I thought it was the same code as the pairing one… :winking_face_with_tongue:

And no, it doesn’t work either.

Yes it is controllable via Aquara (this device only reports information).

Where are the logs please?

Nothing more than what you have already provided here :

The message says :

No device discovered using identifier {« shortDiscriminator »:2}! Please check that the relevant device is online.

In my opinion you should search online for user feedback/experiences about this Aqara to understand

Ok I’ll look then.

I haven’t found any feedback on the forum regarding IKEA’s Matter products. Does anyone use them and if so is it only via their gateway?

There is a tutorial:

That could also be related to the version of matter-js.

Try with this image:

@prohand I should remind you that this is a development image, based on an older version of Gladys, which is also broken, and @jcmoriaud is not a technical profile like you, I wouldn’t recommend installing that

I don’t have a Dirigera Matter gateway, I’m using the Aqara M100 dongle…

I just realized I hadn’t integrated the Matter dongle into Gladys, which I just tried, but it doesn’t work either.

Yes, I know :slightly_smiling_face: But you were asking me whether other people on the forum used IKEA Matter devices, there are quite a few posts about these devices, via other Thread hubs indeed :slightly_smiling_face:

Regarding the Aqara M100, you’re a bit of a pioneer, I haven’t yet seen anyone use it ^^

In my opinion, you’ll need to look for feedback outside the Gladys forum for this specific case!

Indeed, sorry, I really hadn’t thought of that :frowning:

Sorry, I misunderstood.

On the other hand, I went grocery shopping and when I came back:

It started working!

I don’t see my devices under « Devices » but under « Settings ».

I’ll retest tonight with the bulbs and the remotes

Thanks

Unable to connect bulbs and remotes.

I really don’t know what to do with this setup. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
