Hello,
I just found an interesting article about the evolution of Matter and more and more solutions integrating it ![]()
I saw this coming, and now itâs almost a « competitor » to Matterbridge ![]()
But honestly, itâs a great evolution, and it totally aligns with my vision for the future of home automation: I think Matter will become the central layer of the entire ecosystem.
This is very good news. However, Iâm afraid Matterbridge may lose its appeal compared to Homebridge. Also, the community is much larger, not to mention it has many more plugins available.
What would be the pros and cons of switching to Homebridge instead of keeping Matterbridge, setting aside the significantly higher number of plugins available in Homebridge, of course?
If anyone has tested both, Iâd be happy to hear your feedback ![]()
I had started recording a video about Homebridge 2.0 this morning, everything was working great but in fact the +4000 plugins of Homebridge need to be adapted to work with Matter.
So as it stands, only certain plugins are Matter-compatible, and of those Iâve tested, they werenât.
But on the other hand, the « Matter Pairing » part between Homebridge and Gladys works great, so itâs really promising once their ecosystem has migrated the plugins!
These are two projects with the same goal, itâs always good to have competition ![]()
For now, advantage to Matterbridge which has more compatibility, but if Homebridge migrates its 4000 plugins, itâs a game-changer and it will instantly become the leader.
