Hello everyone,
I created the Craftsmen Map (https://cartedesartisans.fr). It’s an independent and free website to find a craftsman near you. It lists a little over 3 million active craft businesses in mainland France and Corsica: plumbers, electricians, carpenters, bakers, garages, hairdressers, etc.
A few details about the site:
- The data is public: Sirene from INSEE and the trade directory of the chambers of crafts. It is under an open license and updated every month.
- It displays the RGE (ADEME), Living Heritage Company, and Master Craftsman labels. Labelled companies are presented first.
- There are no cookies or advertising trackers. The site is not affiliated with INSEE or the CMA.
The idea: an external integration for Gladys
With Claude Code, I studied the integration-template-js model and the SDK. A provider type integration, without devices, seems quite feasible:
- A « Craftsmen near me » widget on the dashboard. You choose a profession or category and a radius around the house. The widget displays a list with the name, profession, distance, labels, and a link to the profile (phone, route, opening hours if the craftsman has provided them). A field also allows searching by company name.
- A « Search for a craftsman » scene action: based on a profession and a town, it returns the name, phone, and link of the first result. You can then reuse them in the scene, for example in a Telegram message.
Planned operation
- The data comes from public static files on the site, split by profession and department. The integration keeps them locally cached and only refreshes them once a month, in line with the data.
- The position of the house is used solely for local distance calculations. It is not sent anywhere, and the integration does not transmit any user data.
- As on the site, a small « Sponsored » block may appear: up to 3 craftsmen from the area, clearly identified and separated from the normal results. It has no effect on the order of the results and is not accompanied by any tracking. This is what finances the site.
- The integration will be published on GitHub, open source, via the decentralized store.
My questions
- Would an integration of this type be useful to you?
- Do you prefer a widget, a scene action, or both?
- Do you have any advice on best practices for a
providerintegration, particularly on caching and data size?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
