Hi everyone!
Here is Lutron in Gladys: Lutron dimmers, switches, shades, and Pico remotes, controlled 100% locally by the LEAP protocol of the bridge. No Lutron account, no cloud, no Internet. Very popular in North America, Caséta often came up in the thread of demands.
What it does
- Your Lutron devices arrive in Gladys, named after their Lutron room:
- dimmers (Diva, Caséta, Sunnata…), switches, modules, and relays;
- shades, curtains, and slat blinds, fans;
- presence by room, Lutron scenes, Smart Away, and low batteries.
- The Pico remotes become Gladys buttons: click, double click, long press and release, directly in the « Device State Change » trigger.
- On RadioRA 3 and HomeWorks QSX, there is also:
- keyboards with their engravings and their indicators;
- adjustable white and colored lights (Ketra, Lumaris);
- a « room scene activated » trigger and an « press a keyboard button » action.
- Two missing scene actions in Gladys: set a level with fade, up to 4 hours, and adjust the slats of a shade.
- A Lutron Preview widget: the bridge, Smart Away, occupied rooms, low batteries, and the last presses on the Pico.
- Two triggers, « bridge offline » and « bridge back online ».
The cool thing
- A double click on the « On » of the Pico launches the Cinema scene, and a long press on « Off » turns off the whole house.
- Gentle wake-up: the bedroom light gradually increases over 20 minutes.
- The association is done from Gladys. The integration searches for the bridge on the network, you press the small black button on the back, and that’s it.
Installation
Gladys 5.1.1 minimum. The integration is in the store (search for « Lutron »). You can also install it right away via Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - LM1LC3N7/gladys-lutron: Lutron Caséta integration for Gladys Assistant · GitHub
- Add your devices to the bridge in the Lutron app. This is the Lutron-specific installation, to be done once. Also give the bridge a fixed IP address.
- In the integration configuration, leave the IP address empty or enter it, then click on Associate the bridge.
- Within 60 seconds, press the small black button on the back of the bridge.
- Add your devices in Discovery.
Honest small reservations
- Tested on real Caséta: my kit (Smart Hub, Diva dimmer, Pico) works, from association to control. RA2 Select, RadioRA 3, and HomeWorks QSX are only tested against the recorded responses of pylutron-caseta, the library used by Home Assistant. Testers wanted, especially in RadioRA 3 and QSX!
- One bridge per Gladys for now.
- Lutron does not publish LEAP, and a bridge update can change it. In case of trouble, the Diagnostic button writes in the logs an anonymized description of your installation, to be attached to your message.
- Older systems without LEAP are not compatible: first Smart Bridge (L-BDG), RadioRA 2, HomeWorks QS.
Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. The LEAP client was written for the occasion, without dependency, based on pylutron-caseta (Apache-2.0). Independent project, not affiliated with Lutron Electronics.
