Moonraker (Klipper) integration: 3D printing monitoring

Hello! My 3D printer runs on Klipper with Moonraker, which exposes a very clean local REST/WebSocket API. An external integration exposing the printer’s status, progress percentage, remaining time, temperatures, and a « print completed/failed » event that can be used as a scene trigger (notification, voice announcement…) would be super useful for makers. The API is public and simple, it seems like a good candidate for the community store.

Identified need based on my home automation setup, analyzed and written with the help of Claude (AI) — reviewed and approved by me.

Oh, a returning user!

I was thinking of starting an OctoPrint integration since that’s what I use. I’m taking advantage of your message to get your feedback on Klipper…

Hihi yes I can see the exchanges and progress thanks to AI, I take the opportunity to state my needs before Terminator arrives :joy:

I’m far from being an expert in 3D printing. But with Klipper, I’ve been able to make very nice prints with my old Creality Ender 3v2, with very few hardware modifications. Calibration takes some time, and you have to stay « aware », but I couldn’t have stayed on the « stock » version. I think I’ve gained 40% of printing time, and more « automated » maintenance: still manual, but well supported with digital tools for validation, backup, and recalculation (especially for bed leveling).

If you have, like me, an old machine that gets the job done, I recommend Klipper. For Bambu Lab « turnkey » or others in the same style, I can’t advise you.

Exactly (Alfawise U20)! I’m already very happy with OctoPrint and was afraid of Klipper’s configuration. I might take the plunge

Above all, there’s the pleasure of tinkering.

It takes a lot of patience, and determination!
