Good question @mutmut! Unfortunately, no, it doesn’t change anything for LiXee.
- The « USB dongle » in the documentation is the Coral USB (the AI chip used by Frigate), not a serial key. The example right below shows it: d.class === « coral-usb ».
- The only possible hardware accesses are still coral-usb, coral-pcie, gpu, and video. I just double-checked in the documentation and in the store schema: there is no class for a serial port (/dev/ttyUSB*, /dev/ttyACM*).
- And these accesses are only given to sub-containers, never in the form of a free /dev path.
So for now, ser2net remains necessary. This is exactly the subject of the 3 open issues (Gladys #3194, integration-store #18, integration-sdk-js #39): adding a serial class that the user would grant like coral-usb or video. If you’re interested, a
or a comment on the Gladys issue helps move it forward.
As soon as a serial class exists, I will update the integration to read the module directly, without ser2net.
