Hello everyone,

I present a new integration for Gladys: Twinkly, to control Twinkly garlands, curtains, Christmas trees, and other LED lights.

Twinkly for Gladys Assistant

In brief

  • 100 % local: Gladys talks directly to Twinkly on your network. No account, no cloud.
  • Automatic discovery: Gladys finds Twinkly devices on the network, or you can enter their IP addresses.
  • No duplicates: each Twinkly is recognized by its MAC address, even if it changes name or IP.

Each Twinkly becomes a light

  • Turn on / off
  • Brightness from 0 to 100 %
  • Fixed color (firmware 2.7.1 or newer)
  • Scene selection: your animations, playlist, and built-in effects

Scenes (Gladys 5.1+)

Triggers:

  • A Twinkly has changed mode (from the app, its button, or its timer)
  • A Twinkly is unreachable
  • A Twinkly responds again

Actions:

  • Play an animation (by name or number)
  • Play an effect (by number)
  • Change mode: on, off, animation, effect, playlist, fixed color, demo

A change requested by Gladys never triggers the trigger again: no scene that loops.

Dashboard widget (Gladys 5.1+)

  • Overview: the status of all your Twinkly devices, with « Turn all on Â» and « Turn all off Â».
  • View of a Twinkly: its live brightness, current scene, and a set of buttons to choose from: scenes (previous / next, identify), brightness (−10 %, +10 %, max), modes, or colors (white, red, green, blue).

In the configuration

  • Test the connection: lists the responding Twinkly devices (name, IP, number of LEDs, firmware, mode).
  • Identify a Twinkly: starts its demo for 5 seconds then puts it back as before. Useful to know who is who.

Prerequisites

  • Gladys 5.1 or newer
  • Each Twinkly first installed with the Twinkly app, on the same network as Gladys
  • Recommended: a fixed IP per Twinkly (DHCP reservation in the box)

Installation

Good to know

  • Network search finds nothing (separate VLANs, Wi-Fi isolation)? Enter the IP addresses in the configuration.
  • The Twinkly app and Gladys can run at the same time: Gladys reconnects automatically.
  • New animation loaded from the app? Restart a search to see it in the scenes.
