21 external integrations now speak German and Spanish 🌍

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

Grouped announcement, to avoid flooding each topic: my 21 external integrations now speak French, English, German and Spanish :france::united_kingdom::germany::spain:

Why

Gladys exists in four languages, but my integrations only spoke French and English. Result: @ruegerth, who tests a lot of things from Germany (thanks to you :folded_hands:), had Gladys in German… and all the screens of my integrations in English. Not great :sweat_smile:

What is translated

Everything that an integration shows you in Gladys:

  • the description and the entire configuration page;
  • the dashboard widgets;
  • the scene triggers and actions;
  • the messages: errors, button results, statuses;
  • the feature names, for integrations that have a language setting.

In German, we use the informal „you“, and in Spanish, the formal „you“, as in Gladys. The detailed documentation remains in French and English, because the store only publishes these two languages for now.

Each integration now has a test that blocks publication if text is missing in one of the four languages: an oversight can no longer slip through.

By the way, some of them got new features in the same version: DLNA favorites (web radios and playlists in one button, an idea from @ruegerth), the Speedtest widget revised (no more cut-off numbers, area chart) and the Tesla Wall Connector widget reorganized following @mutmut’s tests. The details are in each topic.

:folded_hands: Call to German and Spanish speakers

The translations were done carefully, using Gladys’ own vocabulary, but nothing beats a real read. If you come across a strange turn of phrase, a wrong word, or text cut off in a tile, say so here (a screenshot is enough) or open an issue on the integration’s repository. I fix things quickly.

As usual, all of this was done with the help of Claude Code :robot:

And for other integration developers, two useful pieces of information:

  • the manifest accepts any language, and only en is mandatory. Gladys displays the user’s language if you provide it, otherwise English;
  • the store only publishes docs/en.md and docs/fr.md for now.

… That’s very good, Herr @guim31 :joy:

And to write in another language, the … before the sentence works well :sweat_smile:

Thanks for the tip, I knew there had to be something like that! :sweat_smile:
