Chicken coop: CPL and Gladys

I have a chicken coop about 50 m from my house, so out of range of Wi-Fi, Zigbee, … but this coop is powered on the same electrical network as my house;
so my idea: a powerline

After a quick online search, theoretically it seems possible!

Now to test it!

I opened the thread in 2 categories, so if any of you have any leads, advice, recommendations, or equipment suggestions, I’m all ears!

I closed the other thread and moved this one into « configuration » :slight_smile:

I don’t have any powerline adapters (CPL) and I’m not an expert on the subject, so I’ll let others answer you.

To help you

Keep in mind that the farther apart the units are, the more the throughput decreases (because of voltage drop on the line and the increased number of errors), but compared with the bandwidth you’ll need (video 4 to 5 MB/s + data) it should be more than sufficient.
The only problem is possible interference on the line (presence of high-voltage lines, neon tubes, etc.) to which you plug in your powerline adapters (CPL).

Personally, I’m ambivalent.
I use powerline adapters (CPL) in the house without any problem.
But for the gate, mailbox and doorbell, I wanted to put one about +/-50m from the house, but the signal was too weak (Devolo 500 Mbps). The underground wiring is probably of poor quality.
I ended up putting a Wi‑Fi access point as close as possible inside the house (thanks to a powerline adapter) and a Wi‑Fi repeater with good antennas in the mailbox (where everything is connected). The access point at the far end was necessary because the modules used were regularly disconnecting, as the signal was a bit too weak.
