Ah, so this device is « closed », itâs compatible with 3 proprietary protocols: HomeKit, Alexa and Google Home.
If you can exchange it to get the Matter version, youâll have a device with an open, local, and open-source protocol
Yes, youâre right about the content side! HA (Home Assistant) is omnipresent on social networks, and itâs very hard to compete, even though we do our best to improve
Our documentation is very comprehensive, by the way â if you havenât already gone through it itâs the best place to learn about Gladys:
If you have concrete points, Iâm open to feedback so we can improve that
My remark in the YouTube video is product-related: everything is designed to be simple in Gladys. Itâs just clicking in a clean interface; thereâs never any editing of YAML files nor any command line to type.
Ah darn, no â Iâve already bought them a while ago
Yes, I understand.
Yes, Iâve already read it
No problem, and already one point you raise: no YAML files etc., that already seems simpler for a NOOB. Itâs a bit like in Alexa where you add products, etcâŠ
One point I havenât found in the machine configurations:
- Does a mini PC need to be on all the time, and does a keyboard / mouse / screen need to be permanently connected?
- Can a Raspberry Pi be installed in an electrical panel and connected remotely?
I hope Iâm making myself understood
Edit: sorry I still havenât figured out how to make the text appear in the comment
No, just the mini-PC plugged in
At my place I have a Beelink S12 Pro in the same piece of furniture as my router, connected by Ethernet and thatâs it.
Iâm about to return my Raspberry Pi, dongle, etc., to order a kit from you

Donât return the Zigbee dongle, youâll need it with the mini-PC
But I can only recommend mini-PCs; theyâre really a different world compared to the Pi in terms of performance and stability.
Okay.
Iâll think about it this afternoon then, if I order that from you today, how long is the delivery time? Do we have lifetime access to the video training?
This one is perfect!
If you order today, Iâll place the order for the mini-PC and Iâll receive it at my home tomorrow or Tuesday (depending on what time you place the order), then Iâll install it the day I receive it, and Iâll ship it out directly with Mondial Relay.
Then, it depends where you live â it can be quick or it can take longer depending on the distance to travel
Yes, itâs for life
