Can we leave « 4.71.0 » if we want to manually update?
Yes, absolutely, both work ![]()
You’re right, I was too quick ![]()
Crazy, I’ve never seen this video!
The worst part is that I searched for « Gladys Assistant » on YT and this video never came up, super weird ![]()
I saw it when I was looking for information about ZimaOS. It’s really a good OS for a Homelab and it’s free.
There’s this video that explains the OS simply → https://youtu.be/Q_5db96agTg?is=AFtYPcUmPXM6czGj
There is also umbrelOS which is very simple but there is no Gladys in the store.
I tried several times with Umbrel, but we never managed to agree!
Since it’s primarily a Bitcoin node, they want maximum security. As a result, the container inside has ultra-minimal rights, which makes using Gladys impossible in this case…
They have a Home Assistant add-on that they made themselves, but in my opinion, no one actually uses it. Without any rights, it’s not interesting at all ![]()
But maybe that has changed since then!
Indeed, that’s annoying. Thanks for the info.
Hi. Here’s some new hardware that’s a great alternative: LattePanda IOTA - Expandable x86 SBC with Intel N150 for AI, Robotics & Edge Computing with the passive case Heat sink for LattePanda IOTA. It’s a small machine like a RasPi but with Intel, so more powerful and easy to install.
Thanks for sharing @ArMour85! ![]()
However, from what I can see, this board doesn’t seem to be easily available for sale yet. It’s also a “bare” board: you need to add several components (and Bluetooth doesn’t even seem to be integrated?), the storage is eMMC, which doesn’t offer the same performance or lifespan as an SSD, and you also need to plan for the power supply.
In the end, I think a consumer mini-PC that’s easily found on Amazon is a better option: it’s often cheaper once all the accessories are taken into account, more powerful, more reliable thanks to its SSD, and above all ready to use. For the majority of Gladys users, this is a much simpler solution. ![]()
