[BETA] App Android

Hello
I successfully downloaded the apk but I can’t start the installation, I get a message:
The application has not been installed:thinking:

Have you successfully downloaded the file « Gladys.apk »?
What kind of phone do you have? Which version of Android?
Have you enabled unknown sources?

Hi @pyb

I had the same problem on my S8, didn’t you recently do an Android update?

I really hoped no one would have this issue… The bug has been fixed in the latest version of the app, but updating it won’t be easy

I can point you to the method I had to use to get out of this vicious circle, but it might take some time and you’ll need a PC for that.

You can try, but in my case it didn’t solve the problem because it was crashing before, but you never know, give it a shot!

Well, I’ll try to make you something step by step and well detailed tomorrow

But I just updated it ^^

Oh, that’s good news because that wasn’t the issue I was expecting!

However, another problem arises
Have you tried clearing the app’s data?
And the fact that uninstallation is not possible is becoming suspicious…

Oh… I think the update didn’t go through…

I suggest we put this off until tomorrow and I’ll explain how to get rid of it!

Hello @pyb!

I may have found a shorter and less tedious solution!

Start by installing the Minimal ADB and Fastboot Tool by following the XDA forum instructions.

Once that’s done, enable the debug mode on your S8 and connect it to your PC. Then open the ADB terminal and type the following command →

adb devices

You should see your S8 displayed in the list, if not, you must be missing some drivers!
If your S8 is properly displayed in the list, type the command →

adb uninstall com.gladysinc.gladys

And normally the app should be uninstalled and you can then install the latest version

I thought the one from GitHub was up to date… weird

Try this one to see. But I think you’ll have to redo the procedure first…

Top!

It’s normal! You have issues with an app that I designed, so it’s the least I can do^^^
If you have other problems, don’t hesitate!

I arrived too late, sorry.. but I’m glad you fixed your error!

Indeed! And you’re not the only one to have made this mistake, however, the fact that the app crashes completely, I agree, that’s less cool

I’m rewriting the app from scratch in Kotlin, which is the successor to Java (I’m trying to be up to date ^^) so I’ll note it in my to-do list to properly indicate to the user not to put « https » before their address and in case of managing this error and avoiding another crash! Thanks for your feedback, it’s a pleasure

Yes, like many, you have to wait. A new version is coming soon.

You’re not helping at all
And the current version is totally functional ^^

@Payou what version of Android do you have? Where did you download the apk from? Does the app crash on the first launch or did you have time to set up your configuration before it started crashing?

Hello everyone.

I just installed the app, it works very very well
Using the link from the first post, I got version 1.4.5 of the application.
Smartphone: Wiko Rainbow Lite 4G running Android 5.1.1
Voili voilou

I tested the sync and it works very well in both directions for creating alarms…
I can also control the Freebox, but only to turn it off… :frowning:.

I’m in the same situation. The first post should be updated with the correct link.

Edit: Indeed, it works with the correct APK :+1:

Hello @Yota

That’s nice, but the app will be published on the Google Play account of the Gladys organization to standardize everything

Hello @alexis

Which version of the app are you using?

Nope! It’s 1.5.2 the latest one! And in this version the dashboard has been revised and now displays the tags of the devicetypes

Hi @MathieuA,
I’m trying to install the latest version (1.5.2) and I’m getting a rejection on two devices (my phone and a tablet). On the phone, I had an older version and it was working, so I don’t understand. Now I can’t install it, it’s giving me a rejection. Any ideas?

Hello @isokar

The app is designed to work from Android API 19 (Android 4.4 KitKat), so if your devices have an earlier version, it’s normal.
