I propose adding a Kiosk / Fake User mode allowing a smartphone or tablet (e.g., with Full Kiosk Browser) to be used as a dedicated Gladys control panel.
Objective
Display only a simplified dashboard, with no risk of leaving the screen or modifying Gladys.
Desired features
Display of the dashboard only
No side menu
No edit buttons
No access to settings / scenes / integrations
Forced, permanent full-screen
Simplified authentication or dedicated token (local only)
No user logs (optional)
Use cases
Old phone/tablet as a wall panel
Simplified interface for guests / children
Wall display in a workspace or workshop
Benefits
This would provide a clean, secure « control panel » mode adapted to fixed touch interfaces.
Tablet mode allows you to lock the tablet to the dashboard display; it works great with Fully Kiosk Browser (pictured above on my Google Pixel tablet in my kitchen).
When you activate alarm mode, all the tablets in your home lock so an intruder cannot use them to perform actions, and each tablet displays a code that must be entered to unlock Gladys.
Once alarm mode is deactivated (even if you deactivate it from your phone), all the tablets unlock automatically; it works really well
Tablet mode is great, especially when paired with alarm mode
What I wanted to express is a slightly different need:
a dedicated “fake-user” that displays only a specific dashboard, with no other access.
The idea would be :
The tablet connects to Gladys via an ultra-limited account
This account sees only a single dashboard, defined and configured by a real user
No menus, no edit buttons, no scrolling if the dashboard is short
Forced full-screen
Impossible to access devices, scenes, integrations, settings… nothing at all
Concrete example :
A fake-user chambre_enfant would display only :
bedroom thermostat
current temperature
2–3 lights
and that’s it
The tablet can’t do anything else; it’s completely compartmentalized and perfectly “safe” for wall-mounted or child use.
The current tablet mode is perfect for alarm locking, but a kiosk mode tied to an ultra-restricted user would provide real flexibility to multiply small specialized panels around the house.
