I agree with you on the substance: widgets need to become richer and more composable. However, we won’t take the same path as HA, and I’ve answered you in detail in the other topic to avoid duplicating the discussion 
In summary: yes to composition, but declarative and framed by the core, so that the dashboard remains coherent and simple for everyone. This topic (sections) is actually the first building block in this direction!
