Getting started with Gladys

Hello, Fred, 64 years old, retired in Hérault, I just installed Gladys on a Dell mini PC out of the box. The installation seemed to go well, but unfortunately, it is not connected. The Ethernet message: disconnected / Gladys: started, thank you for your help

Hello and welcome!

Can you tell us more about your setup?

Did you use the ready-made Ubuntu image or install it « manually » via a Docker command?

Is your PC connected via Ethernet to your router? Was it connected during installation?

Thanks, yes the ready-made version, the PC at the start of the installation wasn’t connected to the router. I had to move everything because there wasn’t a long enough cable! That was probably the error… but the installation was waiting for a connection.

Yes, the connection is essential during installation. One of the users reported the same issue earlier in the day: Gladys Assistant OS : installez Gladys sur un mini-PC avec une simple clé USB 🚀 - #6 par StephaneB

Okay, thanks. I guess I need to start all over again?

Welcome @frederic.norel!
Since you just did the installation, the easiest thing is to start a new installation by connecting your mini PC to the network first

Hello @frederic.norel, and welcome!

Yes, as @mutmut advised you, the simplest solution is to restart the installation. Don’t worry, you didn’t do anything wrong: the installation should have resumed automatically once the cable was connected.

This was a bug in Gladys Assistant OS, it has been fixed and the fix will be in the next version.

For the reinstallation:

  1. Connect the mini-PC to your box with the Ethernet cable before turning it on.
  2. Restart it on the same USB key: no need to rewrite it.
  3. Follow the same steps as the first time.
  4. When the screen displays « Gladys Assistant is ready », open http://gladysassistant.local from your computer or phone.

At the end, the screen should display « Ethernet: connected ». If it doesn’t, send us a photo of the screen and we’ll look at it together.

Thank you very much for all your information, Kind regards.
