Hello from Charly

Hello,

Gladys is exactly what I needed right now. I found it via the AyLabs video.

I’ve just retired, I worked in IT, I did virtualization projects, and I moved to my little house in the south (I’m setting the scene also to show that diving into the YAML doesn’t scare me, but it does annoy me a bit).

I just had a Lidl box with smart plugs and lamps and a motion detector, some automations, a camera and other Xiaomi devices, a Samsung washing machine on SmartThings, nothing too complicated. I had set up a Proxmox, with a Home Assistant VM.

I’m not saying it’s complicated, but it’s a real pain. And if you don’t want to spend hours on it, it quickly becomes a mess… And I’m not even talking about the WAF…

I think Home Assistant is a wonderful, super comprehensive tool that covers every scenario, but it’s fairly inaccessible to the novice, to your partner in the house, or let’s say it requires a huge amount of time and effort to have something presentable and usable.

So I’m getting into Gladys Assistant with enthusiasm. Gladys is elegant, and even though I had troubles pairing my Zigbee devices with my Sonoff dongle (probably my fault, because I didn’t read the docs properly), the support is great and the interface is easy…

Anyway, I’ll now see how to integrate my IKEA Matter devices and the rest.
