My name is Aurélien, I’m 24 years old and I live in Spain. I work in IT as a developer. Although the technology used by Gladys interests me greatly, I unfortunately never had the opportunity to try it and go beyond a simple « Hello World ». I really want to get involved in development by trying to free up more time for it, but it still seems quite obscure to me. We’ll see with time.
I’m going to show you the setup I have in my apartment, mainly based on Xiaomi!
- 2 Yeelight bulbs + 1 Yeelight Striplight Plus + 2 connected Philips bulbs
- 3 Xiaomi cameras
- A Chinese version Xiaomi gateway
- A European version Xiaomi gateway
- 3 Xiaomi buttons
- 2 Xiaomi infrared remotes (which control the air conditioners)
- 3 Xiaomi temperature and humidity sensors
- 3 Xiaomi opening detectors
- 5 Xiaomi motion sensors
- 1 Xiaomi S5 robot vacuum
- 1 Xiaomi connected plug + 2 Zwave connected plugs
- 2 Sonos Play:1 speakers and 1 Sonos One speaker
- A Xiaomi TV
In terms of installation, I have a Synology NAS, a Synology router, and a RaspberryPi 3.
Today, I have Gladys v3 running on the RaspberryPi, as well as Gladys v4 and Home Assistant on the NAS docker.
Since almost all of my system is based on Xiaomi, I mainly control my home automation via the Mi Home app. The downside is that there is no presence management and the scenarios are simplistic and do not allow me to do what I want.
Hence the usefulness of having Gladys, which via « Network Scanner » allows me to manage presence in the apartment.
