Hello,
I currently have a project to integrate all Home Automation solutions into a common Discord (I’ve already discussed this with @VonOx) and I would like to include the Gladys Team
The work has already started with other Boxes as well.
Discord / Slack?
From what I know, you use Slack, which is professional and great for all internal matters.
Discord is much more widespread among individuals (my target audience).
Discord / Forum?
The forum remains a place for « persistent » exchange; Discord is not there to replace it!
The advantage of Discord is that it facilitates written and oral exchanges with the possibility of sharing screens without taking control.
Why a common Discord?
There are several home automation solutions, each with their advantages and disadvantages.
The ease (or complexity) of administration will play an important role in the choice of the solution.
Currently, many users arrive on our Discord with a question:
=> What is the best home automation solution?
People on HA will advise HA, people on Jeedom will advise Jeedom, etc.
Personally, I tend to ask about the user’s skills and what they want to do before advising a box.
I won’t necessarily advise Gladys, because I don’t know the solution at all…
That’s when I need you!
Dedicated / Common Channels
My goal is to create dedicated Teams (e.g., Gladys Team) within the community that will have the power to decide on the channels of their section (Gladys in your case).
When we talk about ZWave, Zigbee, MQTT, NodeRED, etc., whether we are on Gladys or another solution no longer really matters.
Currently, each community tends to create its own Discord and split the information and help.
How do users choose their boxes?
Through the dedicated section, when a user arrives on the Discord, they must select their different interests to unlock access.
This avoids spamming Jeedom users with questions related to Gladys if the latter does not interest them.
In short, I’m available to discuss this whenever you want, whether on Discord or here
