Wattwächter, a small tool that solves a German problem, to read their electricity meter, Germans actually go into the basement and wave a flashlight in front of the meter. Seriously, not kidding… out of fear that someone might find out how much electricity this one house is consuming. Embarrassing to watch.
The company Wattwächter, among many other providers, has built a small infrared head, inexpensive to obtain, and it has Modbus TCP.
So here we go:
On the left, the widget with current consumption or feed-in and the MAC of the meter, on the right, what the device provides.
The scene is there, but still untested.
