Gladys Assistant 4.69: Zigbee2mqtt switches to Ember and Tasmota energy monitoring

Hello everyone,

A new version of Gladys Assistant is available

Here are the new features in this release:

Zigbee2mqtt : Added the new Ember driver

Zigbee2mqtt now offers a new driver, Ember, for some dongles such as the Sonoff ZBDongle-E.

The Zigbee2mqtt integration in Gladys now allows you to select this Ember driver for compatible dongles.

If you use EZSP, Zigbee2mqtt will not touch your setup without any action from you, to avoid breaking your installation. Stability is a very important value of the project, and this update was designed not to impact your daily use.

If you want to switch to Ember, it’s possible, but you’ll probably need to update the firmware of your Zigbee dongle first.

For example, for the Sonoff Dongle-E, the integration gives you the option to select the driver of your choice between « Ember » (the new default), and the old EZSP:

If you test the new driver and your firmware is not compatible, don’t panic, you’ll see a message:

You can then either update the firmware, or switch back to EZSP in the meantime.

Don’t hesitate if you have any questions

A big thank you to @cicoub13 for this contribution!

Dashboard : Improved display of door opening sensors

The display of door opening sensors on the dashboard has been improved for better readability.

From now on, it displays « Open/Closed », instead of the small padlock icon that wasn’t very readable.

Tasmota : Added energy monitoring

Tasmota devices are now integrated into energy monitoring.

Thanks to @Terdious for this development :raising_hands:

To update, it’s automatic, or you can force an update in the settings.

Have a great rest of the week, everyone!

Thanks @pierre-gilles for the new version! And to @cicoub13 as well.

For clarification, as with Zigbee2mqtt, you just need to go to Tasmota’s MQTT or HTTP « Discovery » page and update the already-added devices via the « Update » button to retrieve the Consumption and Cost features associated with the Energy features already present.

For those in a hurry, you can recalculate the consumption/costs in full, but that will take time.
Otherwise, for those of us who are more patient, a PR (pull request) is in progress to allow performing these recalculations per device and per date ranges (thus limiting the time/resource cost).
