Zigbee2Mqt not working with my SONOFF Plus MG4 dongle

Hello, I’m new to GLADYS and to home automation in general so please be indulgent :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:.

I set up a Beelink S12 mini PC with Ubuntu and Gladys. I installed a SONOFF Zigbee/Thread USB Dongle | Dongle Plus MG24 - (original firmware = Zigbee coordinator) noted as compatible with Zigbee2MQTT.

When I start the Zigbee2MQTT integration I can see my Gladys = Started - MQTT = Started - Zigbee2MQTT started, however, while the Gladys / MQTT link is OK, the MQTT / Zigbee2MQTT link does not work, I have a red cross on it.

In the Zigbee2MQTT configuration, I have this.

|USB Port|/dev/ttyUSB0||—|—|
|Dongle|SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus Z

Did you try the E instead of the P?

Well, that’s the downside of making several changes at the same time.. I had indeed tested the E with no result, but I think it was when my dongle was in MultiPAN. Now that it’s returned to its original configuration the E works.

Thanks… and sorry for not having double-checked that before bothering you.

I’ll do another test calmly to try to switch it to MultiPAN again to also

No worries, and glad to see it’s working for you now
For the Thread/Matter side with a modified key, I recommend checking this [thread](

Thanks for the advice, I don’t have a Border router… So yes, I’ll wait

I tried to read the post you sent me — I think I understood about 10%:rofl:

For now I’m focusing on my Zigbee and trying to understand Node-RED

Hello,

same equipment and same situation for me :

(with the ZBDongle-E selected)

I tried with the « TubesZB Zigbee EFR32 pro » which uses the same chip as the MG24, but it doesn’t work at all

I have the impression that the issue isn’t really resolved either for Steph38230, the solution being a temporary workaround (without Matter if I understand the exchange correctly)

@4get9 I think this should be resolved with this thread in an upcoming Gladys release: Zigbee - Mise à jour driver ezsp vers ember

Hi @mutmut, no I don’t think so, I’m not sure that’s related.

The Sonoff E dongle should work fine.

@4get9 did you check the Zigbee2mqtt logs to understand what’s crashing at startup?

No

`docker logs

z2m: Error: ‹ ezsp › driver is not compatible with firmware 8.x.x or above (EZSP v14+). Use ‹ ember › driver instead.

@pierre-gilles « The Sonoff E dongle is indeed supposed to work. »
but I have an MG24 dongle (as indicated in the topic title), not an E model

@pierre-gilles "The Sonoff E dongle

@4get9 All good, Ember is live in Gladys Assistant 4.69

Thanks!!! My MG24 is detected :

declared as « ITead Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2 model « ZBDongle-E » »

I still haven’t managed to add my Zigbee device
Still need to see if I’m doing something wrong, if it’s because it’s not the correct dongle model, or if I have an issue…

Hello, which firmware is your MG24 flashed with

Did you follow this documentation? If you tell us which device it is, we can guide you a bit more

OK, very interesting question, I had flashed via the SONOFF website but I hadn’t felt like I had a choice, but actually I did:

by clicking on Change Firmware I indeed have the option

I’ll look into the multi-PAN firmware then

Well, it’s still not working (I had been doing the reset procedure for the Zigbee pilot wire module incorrectly)

small regression unfortunately for me:

Which dongle did you choose from Gladys’s list?

Why use multi-pane, do you have a specific need?

so I took the driver ITead Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2 model « ZBDongle-E »

for the firmware I can switch to a Zigbee-only model without issue, the discussions weren’t very clear and I had the impression that’s what worked
I also wanted to fix a bug with the IKEA products (no more refresh after a while) but at worst I’ll get 2 antennas and we’ll see about that later.

So which firmware should I take, Zigbee or Zigbee router?
