External integration - APsystems EZ1 (balcony solar)

Hi everyone!

Balcony solar is becoming more popular, and the APsystems EZ1 is one of the most sold microinverters. Here it is in Gladys, locally, via the API that the inverter itself opens: no cloud or account.

What it does

  • One device per inverter:
    • the power produced, total and per panel;
    • the day’s energy;
    • the total energy;
    • the power limit, adjustable via a slider;
    • the on/off switch;
    • the alarms (off-grid, output fault, panel short-circuit).
  • Gladys energy tracking: the total energy is a production index, and Gladys derives its half-hourly production for its Energy screens from it.
  • Three scene triggers: production started (in the morning), production stopped (in the evening, with the day’s energy), inverter alarm.
  • Two scene actions: set the power limit, read the production of an inverter or all of them.
  • A widget “Solar production”: the current power, the day, the total, each panel, and the limit. Choose an inverter, or leave it blank for the total of all.

The cool thing

  • In the evening: “3.2 kWh produced today :sun:” on the phone.
  • Strong sun at noon → the water heater or the pool outlet turns on.
  • The night is not an error. The EZ1 turns off without sunlight: the integration puts it in “standby”, keeps the counters, and the status remains green.

Installation

Gladys 5.1 minimum. It will be available in the store at the next indexer update. In a hurry? 1. In the AP EasyPower app, enable the local mode of the inverter and choose Continuous. Give it a fixed address in your box.
  2. Enter its address in the configuration, then click on Test inverters, during the day.
  3. Add the inverter in Discovery and place the widget on a dashboard.

Honest small reservations

  • Testers wanted! I don’t have an EZ1. The integration follows the official manual of the local API and feedback from users of other home automation systems. It also handles firmwares that don’t have the on/off feature, or whose responses differ.
  • The power limit is never written by the integration itself. APsystems does not say whether the inverter keeps it in memory after a reboot.
  • The curves of the Energy screen need to be confirmed on a real installation.

Same vocabulary as the Hoymiles integration, published at the same time: same triggers, same widget. Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with APsystems.
