Hi everyone! ![]()
After Tesla, we continue with cars: here’s Hyundai / Kia, to follow and control your car from Gladys, via the official apps’ cloud (Bluelink for Hyundai, Kia Connect for Kia) ![]()
No more opening the app in the morning to check if the charging is done or if the air conditioning is on ^^
What it does
One Gladys device per car in the account:
Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles: battery level, electric range, charging status, plugged in or not, remaining time, start / stop charging, AC and DC charging limits.
All cars: range, air conditioning on / off with its setting, lock / unlock, open door or trunk, open window, mileage, 12 V battery, engine on.
Recent cars (2024 and later, EV9, restyled IONIQ 5…) : the outside temperature in addition.
A Vehicle widget: battery, range, charging, air conditioning, doors and last update, with buttons for the air conditioning, charging, locking and a refresh. Unlocking requires confirmation, of course
Two scene actions: Refresh a vehicle and Start the air conditioning (adjustable temperature and duration).
The cool part
Every weekday morning at 7:45 a.m. → air conditioning started at 20 °C, the car is ready when you leave
In the evening at 10 p.m., if the car is not locked → it is locked and a small message is sent to the phone
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
It will arrive in the store during the day. In a hurry? Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - guim31/gladys-hyundai-kia: Hyundai Bluelink and Kia Connect cars (battery, charging, climate, locks) for Gladys Assistant · GitHub
- Check that the car works in the official app and that you have accepted its latest terms.
- In the configuration: the brand, the email and the password of the account, the PIN code if your car is recent (it refuses any command without it), and the language of the account.
- Click on Test the connection: your cars are displayed.
- Discovery tab: add your car.
Good to know
By default, the integration reads the last state that the car sent to the cloud, every 30 minutes. It does not wake up the car. Forced refresh (which queries the car itself) is disabled by default, because it drains the 12 V battery and the cloud limits requests per day. Once enabled, it never runs at night or with the engine on.
A command goes through the cloud to the car: from a few seconds to two minutes.
The car’s GPS position is never read.
European accounts only for now.
The protocol comes from the open source library hyundai_kia_connect_api, the one used by Home Assistant, a big thank you to its authors ![]()
Developed with a Hyundai account and an IONIC 5 2025: If you have other models, your feedback is more than welcome, even a simple “it works for me” with the model!
Like the previous ones, it is developed with Claude Code
. Independent project, not affiliated with Hyundai or Kia.
