[External integration] Volvo: your car in Gladys

Hello everyone,

I present to you gladys-volvo, an external integration that brings your Volvo into Gladys thanks to the official Volvo Cars APIs. It is inspired by the Volvo integration of Home Assistant, adapted to the « electric vehicle » categories of Gladys.

What you get

  • A device per car in your Volvo ID account, with what your car actually transmits:
    • battery, range, and charging status (electric and plug-in hybrids);
    • fuel and range (thermal and hybrids);
    • mileage, locking (controllable from Gladys), doors, trunk, hood, windows, sunroof;
    • remote air conditioning;
    • maintenance (distance and time), alerts (tires, levels, bulbs), and distance from home.
  • Scenes:
    • locked or unlocked;
    • locked but a window was left open;
    • engine started or stopped;
    • charging completed, cable plugged in or unplugged;
    • arrival or departure from home (to open the gate, for example);
    • new alert.

Each trigger provides a summary ready to be sent as a notification.

  • Scene actions: lock, unlock, air condition, flash, start the engine (depending on the model), or retrieve the complete status of the car.
  • A dashboard widget with a photo of your car (exact model and color), battery or fuel, range, status of openings, and quick buttons: lock, air condition, flash, view on the map.

Prerequisites

  • A Volvo from 2010 onwards for which the Volvo Cars app works (Europe, North America, etc.).
  • A free account on the Volvo developer portal. You need to create and « publish » an application to obtain an API key and a client identifier. Count about ten minutes, everything is explained step by step in the documentation.
  • Gladys 5.1.1 or newer.

Good to know

  • Volvo does not send anything in real time: the car is read every 5 minutes by default (adjustable).
  • Volvo limits the authorization time of a personal application. When it expires, Gladys notifies you (there is even a scene trigger for that) and you just need to click on « Connect » again.

Call for testers: If you have a Volvo (electric, hybrid, or thermal), your feedback is of great interest to me: what works, what is missing, any potential errors in the integration logs.

Thanks in advance! :automobile:
