Hi everyone! ![]()
After Dreame, Roborock, and the like, the pioneer of robot vacuums was missing: iRobot. Here is iRobot Roomba, for Roomba and Braava, locally on your network.
What it does
- One device per robot, with:
- status (cleaning, returning to base, charging, stuck…) and the error text if there is one;
- the battery and charge;
- the full bin;
- the duration and area of the mission;
- the commands: start / resume, pause, stop, return to base, locate.
- Three triggers: « mission complete », « robot in error », « bin full ».
- A « Roomba » widget.
- Automatic search for robots on the network.
- In French, English, German, and Spanish.
The cool part
Everyone left → the Roomba starts
Mission complete → notification « the living room is clean »
Robot stuck under the couch → alert with the error message
Installation
Gladys 5.2 minimum.
It will arrive in the store at the next indexer update. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-roomba: iRobot Roomba and Braava robots for Gladys Assistant, over the local network · GitHub
The robot needs a password, which the integration retrieves in three ways of your choice:
- Through your iRobot account, once (the account password is never kept);
- With the robot’s HOME button;
- Or by entering it manually.
Then, Discovery tab: add your robot.
Honest small reservations
- Developed without a robot or iRobot account. I checked that the connection to the iRobot account goes well to the real server, but nothing ran on a real Roomba.
- A Roomba only accepts one local connection at a time: if the iRobot app is open on the same network, the integration waits for it to free up the space.
- Room-by-room cleaning is not yet supported.
It relies on dorita980 and roombapy (MIT): thanks to their authors! Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with iRobot.
