External integration - Orange Livebox

Hi everyone!

After the Freebox, the FRITZ!Box, the SFR Box and the Bbox of @guim31, the most widespread box in France joins the band: here is the Orange Livebox in Gladys, locally, via the same API as the box’s admin page (http://livebox/). Nothing leaves your home, no Orange account.

What it does

  • A Livebox device: internet connected or not, type of connection (fiber, ADSL/VDSL), public IP, uptime, number of online devices (total and Wi-Fi), and on an xDSL box the synchronized downstream/upstream rates.
  • Two switches on this same device: the Wi-Fi and the Guest Wi-Fi. These are ordinary Gladys switches: you put them in a native scene (« turn off guest Wi-Fi at 11 p.m. ») without any special action.
  • A presence sensor per device: every phone, tablet, TV or PC that the Livebox knows via Wi-Fi (and Ethernet if you check the option) arrives in Discovery with its name as it is in the box. No MAC address to copy: you check the devices to follow. These are real Gladys presence sensors, so compatible with « house empty », « someone came home » and the alarm.
  • Missed calls from the landline, with the number and name when the box knows it.
  • Four scene triggers: device connected, device disconnected (a specific device, or all), missed call, internet restored or cut off.
  • Three scene actions: devices online (the number and names, usable in a message: {{online}}, {{names}}), Wi-Fi on / off (main or guest), restart the Livebox.
  • Two widgets: Livebox (internet status, connection, uptime, counters, Wi-Fi buttons) and Livebox Devices (who is online right now).
  • Test Connection and Restart Livebox buttons in the configuration. In French and English.

The cool thing

  • The teenager’s phone connects to Wi-Fi → « welcome home », and the hallway light turns on if it’s night.
  • No phone online for 10 minutes → eco heating, alarm armed (the presence sensor is enough, no need for a dedicated scene).
  • Missed call on the landline while we’re in the garden → notification with the number and name.
  • Internet cut off → message on the 4G phone; still cut off 10 minutes later → the scene restarts the Livebox on its own.
  • Friends arrive → guest Wi-Fi button on the dashboard; scene at midnight to turn it off.
  • Every evening, the message « 7 devices online: TV, Shield, … » to spot what doesn’t belong there.

Installation

Gladys 5.1 minimum. It arrives in the store at the next indexer pass. In a hurry? Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - LM1LC3N7/gladys-livebox: Gladys Assistant external integration for the Orange Livebox (3 to 7): Wi-Fi presence of your devices, internet link state and rates, guest Wi-Fi, missed calls, scene triggers. Local, no cloud. · GitHub

In the configuration: the box address (192.168.1.1 usually), the user (admin) and the administration password of http://livebox/ (by default, the first 8 characters of the Wi-Fi key printed on the box). Click on Test Connection: the model, firmware and internet status are displayed. Then Discovery tab: add the Livebox and the devices whose presence you want to follow. Everything is read every 30 seconds by default (adjustable, never under 10 s), the box info every 10 minutes.

Some reservations

  • Beta, developed without a Livebox. The calls (« sysbus ») and field names come from the public documentation, the aiosysbus library and the Home Assistant integration. Tests run on a fake Livebox. Livebox 3 to 7 announced, none verified in real life: a simple « it works » with your model and your firmware is worth its weight in gold, and a different answer is corrected in a file.
  • The rates are only available on an xDSL line: on fiber, the box only gives the internet status and the IP (optical statistics are in the ideas list).
  • The presence follows the Livebox’s « active » indicator, which keeps a device for a few minutes after it leaves; a phone in deep sleep can disappear and come back. Put a delay in the disconnection scene.
  • The missed calls assume the landline is on the box (VoIP); otherwise, uncheck « Read call log ».
  • One Livebox per installation. No German or Spanish yet (the Livebox is mostly French… and Belgian).
  • The password is encrypted by Gladys and only sent to the box, on your local network. After several failures, some Liveboxes block the connection for a few minutes: the integration does not retry in a loop.

Like my other integrations, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Orange; « Livebox » is a trademark of Orange.

If you have a Livebox, even a line feedback with the model, it’s precious :folded_hands:

First of all, thanks for the work.

The integration connected well to my Livebox.

When I go to device discovery, I see the same device 3-4 times. A device that I no longer have or don’t have in the native interface of my Livebox.

Still nice work

Thanks for your initial feedback. If you have details and screenshots + the module logs, I’m all for it!
