As announced in the feature request thread, here is Rachio in Gladys:
connected irrigation schedulers, very popular in North America
and also found here.
What it does
- One device per controller: online or not, power switch on/standby, watering in progress, current zone, remaining minutes, remaining rain delay hours.
- One device per zone: a « Watering » switch (on, the zone waters the default duration; off, watering stops) and the date of the last watering.
- Four scene triggers: watering started, watering finished (with the zone and duration), rain delay set or lifted, controller offline or back online.
- Six scene actions: water zone N minutes, water multiple zones in sequence, run a program, skip a program, stop watering, set a rain delay (0 to lift it).
- A « Rachio Garden » widget: the status of the controller and zones, with buttons to water a zone, stop, run a program, or set a rain delay.
- With Gladys Plus (optional): a Rachio webhook notifies Gladys in real-time. Without it, the integration reads Rachio every 10 minutes, and every 2 minutes during watering.
The cool part
- Rain forecast for tomorrow → 24-hour rain delay, without opening the app.
- End of vegetable garden watering → « Vegetable garden watered 15 min » on the phone.
- Controller offline during vacation → message, before finding the lawn scorched.
- A button on the dashboard to water the tomatoes for 10 minutes.
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum. It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In a hurry? - Get your API key: Rachio app → Profile → API key (or on app.rach.io).
- Paste it into the configuration, then click on Test Rachio: the list of your controllers, zones, and programs is displayed.
- Discovery tab: add the controller and zones.
Honest small reservations
- Beta, developed without Rachio: I don’t have a controller or an account. Field names come from the official API documentation, and everything left to confirm is listed in the TODO of the repository. A first feedback with your model (Gen 2, Gen 3) would be precious.
- Rachio limits the number of calls per day and per key: the integration stays well below and slows itself down if the quota decreases. Without Gladys Plus, a few minutes of watering can pass between two readings.
- The Smart Hose Timer (the connected tap) is not yet supported.
