Hi everyone!
Here are the Husqvarna Automower robot lawnmowers in Gladys, via the official Automower Connect API and an application you create yourself on the Husqvarna developer portal. It’s free. It comes alongside Worx Landroid, which is developed by someone else.
What it does
- One device per lawnmower:
- status, battery, activity, and mode;
- error, with its text in French;
- connection and next departure;
- a mow/pause button and a return-to-base button.
- Real-time: changes arrive via the official event stream, with a full read every 30 minutes for safety. We’re far from Husqvarna’s limits.
- Four scene triggers:
- error (stuck, lifted, out of zone…);
- activity changed;
- mowing finished, with the session duration;
- disconnected.
- Four scene actions:
- start, for a duration;
- park: until the next slot, until further notice, or for a duration;
- pause;
- resume schedule.
- A « Robot Lawnmower » widget: battery, next departure, activity, error, and the Start, Park, Pause, and Resume buttons.
The cool part
- Rain forecast (Buienradar, Météo-France…) → the lawnmower parks until further notice, then resumes its schedule once the grass is dry.
- Lawnmower stuck → « Automower: stuck in the garden » on the phone.
- Kids playing in the garden → a button on the dashboard puts it on pause.
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum. It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In a hurry? - On https://developer.husqvarnagroup.cloud, log in with your Automower Connect account. Create an application, and connect it to Authentication API and Automower Connect API.
- Copy the application key and secret into the configuration.
- Add your lawnmowers in Discovery and place the widget on a dashboard.
Honest small reservations
- Testers wanted! I don’t have an Automower or an account. The integration follows the official documentation of the portal and the library used by Home Assistant.
- Gladys doesn’t yet have a « robot lawnmower » category. The device uses the robot vacuum category, hence a « Clean » to start mowing in the device card. The widget and scenes talk about mowing.
- A disconnection is only seen at the full read, so up to 30 minutes later.
- If Husqvarna refuses the key or secret, the integration doesn’t insist: too many failures block the account for 30 minutes.
