Hi everyone! ![]()
The Zigbee coordinator is the thing we forget… until the day it disconnects and half the house stops responding
Many of you use an SLZB-06 (or one of its cousins) as a network coordinator for Zigbee2MQTT. Here is SMLIGHT SLZB: the status of your coordinators directly in Gladys, locally.
What it does
- One device per coordinator, with:
- the temperatures of the ESP32 and the Zigbee chip;
- the RAM and file system used, uptime;
- the connection (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, LTE) and the coordinator mode;
- how long Zigbee2MQTT (or ZHA) has been connected;
- the firmware installed, the latest available and “update available”;
- “Internet reachable”.
- Commands: restart the coordinator, restart the Zigbee chip, turn off the LEDs, LED night mode.
- Four scene triggers: coordinator unreachable, back online, restarted (even without visible failure, which often indicates a power issue) and firmware update available.
- A “SLZB Coordinator” widget with restart buttons (confirmed, of course).
- Automatic discovery on the network, or manual IP address.
- In French, English, German, and Spanish.
The cool thing
Coordinator unreachable → notification “Zigbee devices are offline” and a Wi-Fi lamp that turns on to warn
Firmware update available → small message with the new version
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum, and an SLZB firmware v2.3.6 or newer.
It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-smlight: SMLIGHT SLZB Zigbee/Thread coordinators (SLZB-06, SLZB-MR…) status and controls for Gladys Assistant, local · GitHub
- In the configuration, let the discovery do its job, or enter the coordinator’s IP address (and the identifier if you have protected its web interface).
- Discovery tab: add your coordinator.
Honest small reservations
- Developed without the hardware: everything was tested on real responses from SLZB coordinators (taken from the official SMLIGHT library tests), not on a real device. Your feedback is welcome.
- Deliberately, no firmware flashing or mode changing: an error would break the entire Zigbee network.
- The Bluetooth proxy, infrared, and ambient lighting of the Ultima are not managed.
@lmilcent, you said you were curious to test it: I’m interested in your feedback ![]()
It relies on pysmlight (Apache 2.0) and the Home Assistant integration: thanks to their authors. Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with SMLIGHT.
