External integration - STIB-MIVB (metro, tram and bus in Brussels)

Hi everyone!

After the SNCB, Brussels: the next STIB-MIVB arrivals at your stops, in the same logic as my transport integrations (SNCB, STM, RTC, OC Transpo…).

What it does

  • One device per platform (each direction is a platform): minutes before the next arrival, the next departures (« 92 → Schaerbeek Gare ») and the STIB message (« Last departure », « End of service »).
  • A « STIB Network » device: current travel advisories, including those affecting your stops and lines.
  • Discovery: the stops closest to your home are suggested by default. Others are added by name, with a line filter and a name of your choice (Louise@2|6:Morning Metro).
  • Four scene triggers: imminent vehicle (1 to 15 minutes, line filter), last departure of the day, disrupted line, disruption lifted.
  • A « Next departures » scene action and two widgets, « STIB Departures » and « STIB Network ». Names in French or Dutch.

The cool part

  • The 81 is coming in 6 minutes → the entrance lamp turns orange: it’s time to leave.
  • Last departure of the day at your stop → notification, so you don’t miss the last tram.
  • Line 1 disrupted in the morning → message before leaving the house.

Installation

Gladys 5.1 minimum. It will be available in the store at the next indexer update. In a hurry? 1. Create a free key on the Belgian Mobility developer portal (free offer) and paste it into Subscription Key. With the key, your stops are read every 30 seconds. Without a key, the portal only allows 100 requests per day: departures are only read every 20 minutes, too slow for the departure alert.
  2. Accept access to the location of your homes, then go to the Discovery tab: add your stops and the network.

Honest small reservations

  • Beta. Real data was collected on the night of October 14. The daytime response format is reconstructed from it: feedback from a Brussels resident on a weekday morning would be precious.
  • STIB attaches its advisories to the lines where they are displayed, not always to the affected line, and there are almost always works somewhere. The triggers therefore react to the publication and removal of an advisory.
  • Open data STIB-MIVB (CC BY 4.0), source cited in the widgets.
