Hi everyone! ![]()
At Yamaha, the amp, soundbar, and small speakers all speak MusicCast. Here’s the integration to control them from Gladys, locally, via Yamaha’s official API: no account and no cloud.
What it does
- One device per zone (main zone, zone 2…) with:
- power/standby and mute;
- volume, compatible with Gladys’ Music widget;
- input (HDMI, optical, radio, Spotify…), sound mode, and presets, chosen from your device’s list;
- for network sources: play, pause, previous, next, and track, artist, album.
- A « a new track starts » trigger.
- Two scene actions: recall a preset (your favorite radio with one gesture) and choose the input.
- A MusicCast widget.
- Automatic search for devices on the network, or their IP address. If the address changes, the integration finds the device again.
- In French, English, German, and Spanish.
The cool part
7 a.m. → the living room amp turns on to the « France Inter » preset
You turn on the TV → the amp switches to HDMI 1 input in « Movie » mode
I leave the house → everything goes to standby
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
It will arrive in the store at the next indexer update. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-musiccast: Yamaha MusicCast receivers and speakers for Gladys Assistant: power, volume, input, playback, local · GitHub
- Launch the search, or enter the IP address of your devices.
- Discovery tab: add the zones you want.
Honest small reservations
- Developed without the hardware: everything was tested against Yamaha’s official specification, without a real device. Your feedback is welcome.
- Multiroom (linking multiple devices) is not yet supported.
- The state is read every 5 seconds when a zone is on: Yamaha normally pushes its changes, but they can’t reach a Gladys integration container.
Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Yamaha.
