The forum and integrations

I have a small suggestion regarding the tracking of Gladys integrations.

At the moment, I am testing several integrations. When an integration doesn’t work, we usually create a new topic on the forum to report the issue. On the other hand, when everything works correctly or when we simply want to provide feedback after some tests, creating a topic sometimes seems tedious and not necessarily very relevant.

So, an idea came to me: why not create a new category on the forum dedicated to user feedback on Gladys integrations?

The goal would be to have a space where everyone could share their experiences without necessarily having to open a new topic each time. We could notably find there:

  • Feedback on the proper functioning of the integrations;
  • Problems encountered during testing;
  • Suggestions for improvement;
  • Tips and usage examples;
  • Questions about the functioning of the integrations.

We could even imagine that each integration has its own topic in this category, with a direct link accessible from its page in the Supervision section of Gladys.

Going further, if the creator of the integration wishes, they could be automatically notified when a user posts feedback on their integration. This would facilitate exchanges between developers and users, while allowing creators to more easily track comments and potential issues.

With the number of integrations available and those that are regularly added, the forum is becoming a real little marketplace! :sweat_smile: It is sometimes difficult to find the right topic dedicated to a specific integration, especially when discussions are scattered across different categories.

I think a dedicated category would centralize feedback, facilitate the tracking of integrations, and encourage users to share their experiences, even when they have no particular issues to report.

What do you think? Would a new category of this type be relevant for the community?

That’s actually, as far as I understand it, almost the same. Most integrations have their own topic in development with the same name « Integration -  » … and as far as I understand it, the thing is also used there as a summary thread for everything relevant to it. I think that’s okay. There are worse things. I’ll just create a post if I search for it and the integration doesn’t exist yet and ask my specific question there.

I had indeed noticed that this system already existed, but the discussions are in the « Development » category, which includes both the core of Gladys and the various integrations.

What would seem especially interesting would be to create a direct link between each integration in Gladys and its discussion space on the forum.

The idea would be to be able to access the topic dedicated to an integration directly from its page in Gladys, particularly in the Supervision section, without having to search the forum for the corresponding discussions.

This would make it possible to centralize user feedback, whether to report a problem, confirm that everything is working correctly, or simply to share their experience after a few tests.

The ideal would be for each integration creator to be able, if they wish, to associate their integration with a forum topic and receive a notification when a new user posts a message there.

I think that this direct link between Gladys and the forum would be the real interest of the proposal: to facilitate exchanges around each integration, without mixing this feedback with the more general discussions about the development of Gladys.

I’d like that too! :+1:
