Error message and Owntracks not working

I followed the instructions in the documentation (the appearance must have changed), in the end an error message is displayed and the position is not displayed in the map tab.

The logs on the phone:

Hi @Jluc :slightly_smiling_face:

Could you export all the Owntracks logs and send them to me by email?

The screenshot doesn’t show enough information to understand what’s happening.

I’d also appreciate screenshots of your configuration. If you could attach them to your email, that would be perfect. Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Jluc and thanks for the logs :+1:

I think the issue simply comes from the fact that the API key hasn’t been entered.

In the URL configured in OwnTracks:

https://api.gladysgateway.com/v1/api/owntracks/[YOUR-API-KEY]

You need to replace [YOUR-API-KEY] with the API key you generated in Gladys Plus (in Settings → Open API).

Once this key is correctly entered, the connection should work.

You have all the detailed steps here if needed:

I had entered the key and it wasn’t supposed to work because I had left the [brackets]. Then, when I selected an area, I got another error message again

It’s like injecting a variable into a scene, I never know if I should note the apostrophe, the curly braces or the dots

Indeed, if your API key is „AAAAAAAA“, then you need to use:

https://api.gladysgateway.com/v1/api/owntracks/AAAAAAAA

What do you mean by selecting a zone?

Can you share a screenshot of your configuration here? (make sure to hide the API key in the screenshot, or otherwise send me the screenshot privately)

That doesn’t answer my questions

Sorry, but I have to go now. I’ll try to do better next time.

Good evening, @pierre-gilles @Jluc

I have the same problem on Android. I changed my key, but the issue persists. I uninstalled OwnTracks and reinstalled it, but I still get the same message. This has been going on for a month, or a little more. Everything was working fine before. Here is my screenshot:

If this can help move things along, here is the error:

Same here, but since I hadn’t used it in ages, I didn’t notice.

However, the app’s Android settings were reset, but not by me…

I’ll do a more precise test tomorrow.

It seems to be a recent bug in Owntracks:
