Forum server migration this Monday, February 8 (Edit: done!)

Hello everyone,

Quick message to let you know that I will put the forum in « read-only » mode to perform server maintenance.

If the forum is inaccessible for a short period of time, that’s normal :slight_smile:

Note: Migration means DNS migration. If you still see the old server (read-only for now), try clearing your DNS cache, or just restart your browser.

For information, until now the forum was hosted at Vultr, a great provider but which had 2 drawbacks:

  • Payment was in dollars, not practical when you are a French company.
  • I had updated the forum a few months ago to have more RAM/CPU, but I find that the price/CPU/RAM ratio was not great for 2021.

Recently, I have used a lot a German provider, Hetzner, very well known for its excellent quality/price ratio, and with a new cloud server offer with a very good price/performance ratio.

Given the prices, the excellent stability, and the up-to-date performance for 2021 (NVMe disk, AMD Epyc 2nd gen), I benchmarked and it was really worth it.

In short: it’s done, this forum now runs on a new server :slight_smile:

We’ll see over the coming weeks if we are satisfied :smiley: If it doesn’t do the job, we’ll change, but for now I am very happy!
