Hello everyone,
Beginning with Gladys, I started following this forum and made a feature request even before introducing myself — which I’ve now done!
A (young or not) little over 40, located in the Centre region in Mehun-sur-Yèvre. By the way @NilkOne if you could add me to the map thanks to you, and yes I don’t have a Google account and don’t want to create one.
I’m new to home automation and have no programming skills even though I’m interested; I like everything related to technology and IT, and I’m also a bit of a tinkerer when needed. Trained in electrotechnics and working in industry in the methods department, I try to understand how it all works.
I started looking into home automation 2–3 years ago but put it aside to follow another open-source project focused on privacy, de-Googled my phone and tried as much as possible to separate myself from the GAFAM — it’s the e Foundation - deGoogled unGoogled smartphone operating systems and online services - your data is your data project by GaelDuval for those who know it.
For the past few days I’ve returned to home automation. To date I’m starting with a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with a Sonoff Zigbee USB dongle + 2 Sonoff switches + Sonoff temperature sensor + 1 Lidl smart plug and bulb. I’ll detail more another day in the Partagez votre installation category. Equipped with a Freebox Delta I’m also very interested in the possibility of controlling with Gladys the devices associated with it (Jeedom does it, I think).
My primary need is to have a single home automation system and not lots of apps depending on the manufacturer, to control my oil boiler, my electric heaters, and act on certain devices based on electricity consumption. I’ll take advantage of the sales to complete my setup.
Having gone back through HA (Home Assistant) and Jeedom, while digging around a bit I discovered Gladys which immediately won me over, and moreover it addresses privacy issues. I’m excited — I ordered my Gladys Plus account this week taking advantage of this great offer, thanks @pierre-gilles — so I can test all the features for at least one year.
Thanks for the welcome and long live the project
Have a good evening everyone
Gaël
