A newbie a bit lost - the return!

Hello everyone,

I just discovered the Gladys project and I’m super excited about the possibilities presented!
I subscribed to the newsletter, the forum.
I took a rasp3 and installed Gladys.

I just logged in, created my account, and … that’s it…

I don’t know where to start next, I think I understand that there are scripts, modules, areas, … lots of things but I can’t find a page, a doc that gives a general idea of how to get started with this…

Am I looking in the wrong place? If so, can you give me the 2-3 pages that are right for me?

Thanks in advance

François

Oops, I just noticed that the documentation was a hot topic.. sorry.

The goal was to dig through the forum to find THE post that would allow for an easy start.

If it exists, I’d be happy to take it.

Thanks

François

Welcome!

Indeed, the documentation is lacking, and it’s something I’m working on! There’s a much-needed tutorial for setting all this up.

In the meantime, you have a developer site (developer.gladysproject.com/fr/documentation)

With the list of modules → developer.gladysproject.com/fr/modules

To get started, I recommend configuring your home and installing modules to manage your equipment

You can then add boxes to your home screen

Create scenarios, alarms

And above all, don’t hesitate to ask on the forum if you have any questions

Great, I wasn’t going in that direction (site dev) but I was browsing the forum. Thanks.

On the first read-through of the « configuring your home » section, I have a direct comment: can you have multiple homes in a Gladys?!?

I thought it was one Gladys = one home.

If I want to include my house and my office, do I need a Gladys at home and a Gladys at the office? Do I use the same account for both Gladys instances?

Thanks in advance,

François

The multi-house is managed at the Gladys level, but not yet very well at the device level. For now, you will need two Gladys instances, but the long-term goal is to have a « master » Gladys and a « slave » Gladys that relays the master’s orders.

Hi,

I finally received my Z-Wave dongle and connected a camera, a button, a door sensor, and a window/light sensor.

Everything is visible in Gladys without any issues.

I added boxes to my home screen.

I’m starting the Scenario phase.

First remark, I can’t find the sensor events (button press, motion in front of the camera, etc.) easily. The Edit button for devices scared me, and the device graphs remain empty…

Am I missing something or should I look for this information elsewhere?

Thanks

Normally, the data should appear in the curves!

In the Edit view of the devices, you can see the last value of each sensor of a device

Hi,

For the Fibaro button (The Button, Intelligent Home), the graphs offer me more than twenty values to monitor, but they all remain empty.
These 20 values are also found in the Edit button.

For the Dlink window sensor (D-link Door & Window Sensor), I found two values out of the 30 offered that display a nice curve that I need to understand

Should I look into the values available in Edit to move forward?

Thanks

François

The Fibaro button still doesn’t work with OpenZwave (the open-source Zwave engine I use for Gladys). We’ll have to wait until the feature is available on their end… (I also have the button, it’s not possible to make it work yet).

Yes, for example! You need to find out which value corresponds to what!

Here’s what I recommend:

Switch to the graph view, trigger a window opening, and see if the graph changes (it’s updated in real-time).

Ouch,

In the Fibaro series, do I also need to consider the WallPlug, the Motion Sensor, and the Door/Window Sensor as non-functional for now?

François

It’s just the button for now as it uses a fairly new Z-Wave function  the others work!

Hello everyone,

Back after a somewhat failed attempt in 2017, I once again have a proper Gladys instance with a Gladys Plus subscription.

Full of enthusiasm, full of ideas, full of drive, we’re back in action!

Welcome back then :slightly_smiling_face: Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions

Great to have you back!
You’ll notice,

Thank you both,

I’ve continued to follow from afar, but haven’t really found the time to do a clean install.

The developments have probably played a part in my return. I must admit the alarm concept is very good.

I already have 2-3 things where I’m stuck; I’m looking through the forum for threads to attach myself to. Presence management by the l’an manager, for example.

I’ll post my orphaned topics here before opening tickets

See you soon

François
