[Question] guest mode or screens

Hello,

I purchased a Nest Hub display and, via Node-RED, I cast my local Gladys onto it.

But when I cast Gladys the keyboard is inaccessible.

I wanted to know whether it was planned to have, at the admin’s request, a link to a dashboard showing the authorized devices?

Thank you in advance

You can create multiple Dashboards and each Dashboard has a unique link  (check the URL)

Would that solve your problem?

Indeed!
But when I point to the URL, I still get the authentication request ^^
Unfortunately, I don’t have access to the keyboard in cast mode

Who did this?

I, however, used voice and authentication.
Now I would like to automate the kitchen presence sensor process so Gladys displays.

MQTT Gladys presence on => Node-RED with catv2 => NEST HUB

You actually need a public dashboard (no authentication)

Exactly!
And then I’d certainly do the same on a tablet near the entrance doors

How come the dashboard works then?

By using the voice command « open the Gladys Assistant site » it opens a web page for me with the tools that come with it, including the keyboard.

When you cast in Dashcast mode, the keyboard isn’t accessible ^^

So can’t you set the « gladys assistant » site to the correct URL? (not the default dashboard, the other dashboard)

It’s not that I can’t ^^, it’s that when the hub goes back to sleep I have to reconnect etc., so.
It’s annoying.
Also I’d have to say « open the web page http://ip/dashboard/nom » — that’s not great ^^.

Whereas an open dashboard (locally) for this kind of thing wouldn’t be unreasonable?
I plan to install tablets in addition to the Nest at my place to have access to the dashboard upstairs, in the entryway and in the kitchen.

I also think about the user who uses Gladys at their campsite (I think).
They could create as many dashboards as they have connected mobile homes, right?

ah yes I understand, these hubs aren’t very practical!

I get more the impression that it’s an issue with the hub than with Gladys there  Any normal tablet would work perfectly fine (local Gladys sessions usually take quite a long time to

So I suppose there’s no method other than using a modified Gladys?

There might be a way to tinker with it by looking around a bit, but I don’t have a plug-and-play solution to give you in 10 seconds

Maybe it’s possible to pass a header to catt when you cast? (and thus authenticate Gladys?)

Yes, it might be doable but I’m not sure ^^
Thanks for your answers anyway

Hello! I wanted to know if there was a way to open the dashboard in full screen?
Like by adding an argument such as
?fullscreen=true?

I use Fully Kiosk Browser, and I would like to open the Gladys dashboard in fullscreen by default without the possibility to exit fullscreen.

Hello ! It’s not possible but it’s a good idea

Can you create a feature request so we don’t forget ?

I had forgotten

Home Assistant has a « bypass login » system that simplifies casting to the Nest Hub (with catt for example): it avoids having to reauthenticate every time.

Security:

  • Only on the local network, it seems
  • IP and user restrictions

It would be nice to have a « bypass login » system in Gladys to easily cast dashboards to Nest Hub devices, which are cheap and popular products (you can find them everywhere and often on sale at certain times and even cheaper second-hand: under €50 most of the time).

(and it would be a + for future alarm management via Gladys  )

@qleg Could a « token in the URL » system do the job? How does it work to open a URL on a Nest Hub, for example?
