Who still uses the Open-Zwave integration?

Hello everyone,

We’ve been talking about it for several months now: the Open-Zwave integration currently in Gladys is reaching end-of-life.

A bit of context:

https://community.gladysassistant.com/t/v4-integration-z-wave/6057/107?u=pierre-gilles

We’re at the point where the maintenance of this integration in Gladys is penalizing the whole project, preventing the use of newer package versions, slowing down development, making developer onboarding complicated and soon, if we don’t remove it, will force us to use a version of Node.js that is no longer maintained and without security updates, which is not acceptable, security being an important value of this v4.

It’s an unfortunate choice, but we don’t really have a choice here: this integration will soon disappear, probably in early December as I announced two months ago.

What to do if you use this integration?

While waiting for the new integration based on Zwave-js-ui to be released, you can already set up Zwave-js-ui with Node-RED by following this tutorial:

In Gladys, you can convert your Open-Zwave devices into MQTT devices with one click:

Who still uses this integration?

I’d really like to get some feedback from those who still use this integration, to potentially help you migrate

Thanks for your feedback, and I hope you understand this difficult decision :folded_hands:

I’m using this integration for only one device ^^ a smart plug with energy consumption reading.

I’ll see if I can make the transition with Node-RED, which will then allow me to use the few other Z-Wave devices I own (notably a motion sensor).

If you can give me the info for your devices, I can check whether they are properly handled in the new integration (I think so because I have several plugs with energy consumption and motion sensors)

Thanks for your message, as for my devices I don’t have the model numbers — I’d need to search a bit more.
My plug is from the brand Ocool (or something like that)
And the others are Fibaro Motion Sensors (the small spherical ones)

I don’t have them but I’m confident, it should work

Hello everyone,

I’m new and I’m looking for an alternative to Jeedom which I’m so fed up with!!!

I got into home automation about 5 years ago.

I have a Raspberry Pi 4, a Z-Wave Raspberry card, an external SSD to ease the load on the boards, and several Fibaro sensors for my Z-Wave network (motion, smoke, openings, etc…)

For some time now, the new version of Z-Wave has been crashing my entire network and I was wondering whether that old version of Open Z-Wave should still be kept available for people like me.
Indeed, it might be necessary to update my Fibaro sensors… but Fibaro refuses to provide the firmware. You have to buy their box and that’s more than questionable (disgusting???)

So, while waiting to find an update solution, I can’t really do what I want anymore.
For your information, I saw that you were looking for volunteers to test the new Z-Wave JS integration… I can be one of them if my setup seems relevant to you.
I’m a tinkerer, not very good with computers but I dig around a lot and I persevere… if an opportunity arises, let me know

Have a nice rest of the day

Good evening,

@gogoye Which Fibaro sensors are these?

Hello,

I have smoke detectors, a door-opening sensor, motion detectors, a leak detector and a carbon monoxide detector.

There you gooooo
