I don’t know if this data is available in the database, but it would be interesting to know when the data was last refreshed, for example by hovering over the sensors or cameras.
I’m interested too, especially for the values received from my solar panels, it allows me to quickly check if the servers are still reachable or not!
Small bump,
I did it on my Netatmo dev Gladys that’s been running for a year, and it proves very handy indeed.
No more doubt about what might be down or not!!
I can make a PR for it, but it’s not functional on the PWA and I have no idea at all how to do it there…
I was trying to write a sentence to explain why it still seemed useful to me, and I rewrote it three times without being convinced myself. I just withdrew my vote ![]()
Hi @pierre-gilles,
For my part, yes, it’s still necessary — the expiration feature is global and I have to set it very high (72h) because some sensors may not move during that time span (still a limitation in some cases).
For certain features (notably those coming from cloud platforms), this feature remains useful to me on my custom instances.
I’m really not sure this case is a generality ![]()
First, having sensors that only publish once every 72 hours is already strange… In consumer-grade sensors, that doesn’t exist.
I imagine it’s custom via Node-RED, I think in that case you should revisit your flows to send data more often ![]()
Because in itself, displaying the date on hover is desktop-only, and the Gladys dashboard is mainly used on mobile…
For me, we already have a mechanism for state expiration.
On my side I have virtual sensors for my washing machine and since I don’t do laundry every day, I’m forced to run a scene every day to retrieve the data and send it back (I’m on a 48h expiration).
For real sensors, if the batteries are shot, you only get the info after 48h when it says No recent value and that’s annoying, especially when they’re door/window sensors for the alarm ![]()
Personally I’d like the date and time on hover over the value/icon in the web version. On mobile I don’t know what’s available.
@mutmut in your case, why not shorten the 48h and just refresh your washing machine more often?
