Add an event log to view all the states of the various devices over time.

An example in the Freebox app of the security pack:

We also need to think about where we access this information. Directly from the dashboard (which seems sensible to me)? If so, how?

Absolutely! I’ve been dreaming about this for ages to have the opening history of certain doors! :grin:
I would add: being able to filter this view by a specific device.

Thanks for the request, I agree that an event log would be nice :slight_smile:

However, given what’s described here, is it really an event log that you want?

Isn’t it more a way to visualize the binary sensors on the dashboard?

Both would be great. A widget to put on a dashboard for example with a history like your example for a binary sensor such as open/close, motion or even outlets, lamps… and an event log.

For the log I would see something like the sessions in a new tab, in the top bar next to Scene, which would be called Log or Events.

Instead of the session connection elements, display the list of all events produced by the sensors we have selected and for the period chosen in the settings.

Could you create a request for the graphical display of binary devices on the dashboard?

I know that @lmilcent has been asking for a long time but strangely there still isn’t a feature request (or maybe I looked in the wrong place)

For your information @_Will_71, I edited your request, because this event log thing is no longer related to the binary sensors, it’s just a global log :slight_smile:

@pierre-gilles, what about this request that has accumulated 12 votes and on which no one has exchanged anything since September 2003?

Hi @Jluc :slight_smile:

Since this request was created, things have changed a lot: it is now possible to visualize changes in the states of binary sensors (door open/closed, motion detection, etc.) directly on the dashboard.

This partly addresses the original request, even if it might not be exactly what was envisioned at the time.

I use binary charts and, as far as I’m concerned, they’re very good and sufficient.

The ON/OFF is fine for a binary, but if you have text (like TEXT states that change), you end up with this:

Hi everyone,

I’m taking the liberty of reopening this topic, because I feel the discussion and votes have drifted a bit from the original request.

Originally, it was about logging binary devices (doors, windows…), which has been implemented in Gladys :white_check_mark:

The latest messages are more about text logging, which is a completely different subject.

I think it would be clearer to close this discussion and, if you have another need, to create a new, specific request.

This will help better organize exchanges and votes; otherwise this topic may remain stuck for several more years :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
